Kim Bum Soo, a South Korean pop singer known, is the first Korean artist to break into the North American music charts when one of his songs ranked 51st on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2001. Born on January 26, 1979, Bum Soo wanted to pursue music after growing up in a church choir and cemented his popularity after his ballads were featured in a few television drama soundtracks early in his career.
