Alec Su is a Taiwanese actor and singer who was born on September 11, 1973. He began his career in the 1980s, debuting as a member of the hit boyband Xiao Hu Dui. He later turned his hand to acting, appearing in the period drama series “My Fair Princess” (1997). He has since gone on to appear in the series “Romance in the Rain” (2001), as well as the TV reality show “Hidden Singer” (2016).

The year is 1760. Princesses Xiao Yan Zi (Zhao Wei) and Xia Zi Wei (Ruby Lin) are adored by Emperor Qian Long.

But things are about to change for the young girls. The Empress dislikes both of them, and plots to turn the powerful Dowager Empress against them. Both of the princesses are from poor backgrounds, and she instantly takes a dislike to them.

Meanwhile, the princesses meet the lover of an Uyghur chieftain at a restaurant. He explains the sad tale of his love for the Uyghur chieftain’s daughter – explaining that she has been sent to become the concubine of Emperor Qian Long.

In 18th-century China, the Qing Dynasty’s Emperor Qian Long rules the land. The Emperor is unaware that he has a 17-year-old daughter, named Xia Zi Wei (Ruby Lin), who was born after he had a brief fling with her mother.

Xia Zi Wei is determined to meet her father and travels from her provincial home to the Forbidden City in an effort to seek him out.

However, gaining an audience with the Emperor proves far more difficult than she expected. But Xia Zi Wei refuses to give up hope and remains in the capital – where she one day meets Xiao Yan Zi (Zhao Wei), a streetwise orphan girl.


The girls become firm friends and hatch a plan to meet the Emperor during a hunting trip.

However, their plan is thwarted when Xiao Yan Zi is injured by an arrow fired by the Emperor’s son. The Emperor finds Xiao Yan Zi, and mistakes her for his own daughter, taking her to the Imperial Court.

In the late second century BCE, the Han Dynasty is beginning to crumble. The ruthless minister Cao Cao (Chow Yun Fat) has effectively seized control of the government after traveling to the east of the realm to bring a fearsome warlord to heel.
