Korean singer-actor Rain, currently serving Korea's two-year mandatory military duties, has been promoted in ranks at military training camp. On Friday, a photograph of Rain was posted on a recruit training center website, showing the singer being appointed to private during the training camp completion ceremony held yesterday. Earlier this month, Rain was chosen to become an assistant instructor at his military training camp for having done well in his five-week military training term. Korean singer Rain has been chosen to become an assistant instructor at a military training camp, according to the National Assembly's Defense Committee. On Tuesday, an official with the Committee explained that the designation comes with Rain having done well in completing his five-week military training term. "Jung Ji-hoon [Rain's real name] has been an excellent example to his fellow trainees and did a very good job in completing his basic training exercises," the official said. He may have had to face his claustrophobia and even almost fainted but singer-actor Jung Ji-hoon says his upcoming film "Soar Into the Sun" was "an extremely pleasant" last project to take on before entering the military. Korean superstar Rain will take part in a music festival in Seoul next month, the last time he will perform for the public before entering the military to fulfill his mandatory two-year service. A press release from the festival's promoter CJ E&M announced on Wednesday that Rain, a PR ambassador for the city of Gangnam of Seoul, will take the main stage of the "Gangnam Hallyu Festival" on October 9 while the performance will air on cable music channel Mnet two days later, the day he enters the military. Rain's final stop of his concert titled "Rain The Best Show," held at Seoul's Olympic Park Stadium on September 24, began with an introduction video and powerful performances of his dance track "Hip Song" followed by "TOUCH YA" and "YOU." Rain and his agency have denied a date has been set for the singer-actor's military entrance, downplaying a report from earlier in the day which stated that the date is October 11. An official at J.Tune told 10Asia over the phone on Friday, "He may enter the military in October but he hasn't received a draft notice yet so the date hasn't been set." Singer-actor Rain has finished filming his action movie set for release in the latter half of this year. On his Twitter account on Friday, Rain wrote "We're finally done filming the movie. I'm done with another project. Please look forward to it," with a photograph of himself and fellow actor Oh Dal-soo in uniforms. The movie, titled "Take Off: Closer to the Sun" is a remake of the 1964 Korean movie "Red Muffler" and will also star actress Shin Se-gyeong. Asian superstar Rain will reveal a new song next week to commemorate his upcoming nationwide concert tour in Korea, according to his agency J.Tune Camp. On Thursday, J.Tune announced in a press release that Rain will unveil his self-composed new song "Girl of Busan (translated title)" on August 16.
