But to do a good job, there's always a procedure to follow. 1/Check whether you can access the videos or not You want to sub on a drama? Before contacting anyone or asking anything, check the main page to see if this drama is licensed or not, or try to open a video of an episode to see if you can access it or not. Especially for korean dramas, some channels are restricted and only people living in a particular area and/or qualified contributers can access the videos. You can only sub on videos who have been segmented. When a video has been segmented, you should see this the subtitle editor with segments. You don't have the subtitle editor? Then click on "Show subtitle editor" (located where "hide subtitle editor" button is highligted on the screenshot) 2/ How do I unput the sub? You have to put the subs in the segments. Hi All . . . Thought it might be time for another forum on translations. As time goes along, I'm noticing less and less corrections being needed. That's a good thing, right? However, even I need refreshers, so let's begin one for our English subbers: 1- A new sentence begins with a capitalized or upper case letter: A, B, C, and so on. Sometimes you will see that the editor has made a correction even though you had a capitalized letter. "How come?", you ask yourself. Any qualified contributor can propose other advices, I'll add them to this topic if it is appropriate. 1 => Only sub what you can sub. It means that you shouldn't try to gess the meaning of a sentence, but also that you shouldn't use translators such as google, reverso etc. You probably won't be the only subber working on a drama, so even if you can't complete all the subs, someone will do what's left to do. One of the most common subtitling mistakes that I see in foreign dramas is when subbers try to translate currency. What is the best way to translate currency? When speaking about money, one should never use the $ sign unless you are talking about American Currency. The $ is a symbol of the United States Dollar, and does not represent other currencies. Each country has their own Currency, so translating the number amount and just adding a dollar sign can confuse viewers. It is better to keep the amount of money in the original currency with the country's currency symbol before or after it. As a drama addict, I think it would be wonderful if we could all help wonderful dramas find suppporters, segmenters, subbers, editors, and uploaders and vice versa. Even though some dramas are wonderful, sometimes they just do not get the promoting they deserve. I always get sad seeing a wonderful drama that is just not subtitled, or subtitled halfway. So, I say that we do our part. If you see a wonderful drama that needs a little promoting, post below and let the community know.
