Fellow Angels, let's have a 'lil chit chat with me!
1)Please introduce yourself (girl/guy?, country, blah blah)
xeunyoungie
Female, korean. Living in California. Have been watching kdramas since age 5 ('92).. lol ^^; therefore I know almost every kdrama out there (friends call me the Queen of Dramas... don't know if I should be proud or embarrassed ><) then started on jdramas and twdramas around high school/college...I've watched a lot, maybe too many.. ^^;;;</span></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></p> <p><strong><font color="#0000ff" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; "><strong><font color="#00ccff"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; "><strong><font color="#33cccc"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; "><strong><font color="#00ccff"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; "><strong><font color="#33cccc"><br /></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></p> <p><strong><font color="#0000ff"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-weight: normal; line-height: 16px; "><strong><font color="#33cccc"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; "><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#00CCFF"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><u>jkimx6</u></span></b></font></span></font></strong></span></font></strong></p> <p><strong><font color="#0000ff" size="3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-weight: normal; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; "><strong><font color="#33cccc"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: normal; "><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#00CCFF"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(128, 128, 128); font-weight: normal; line-height: 18px; font-size: 11px; "><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#000000"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">38 and married with four kids. Southern California resident... A little over a quarter of a century years old. University Graduate, now working... Ehh.. Nothing more interesting to report.
2)What do you usually do in ViiKii? And tell me about your contribution in
ViiKii.
xeunyoungie
A friend of mine watches dramas through ViiKii (she needs the subs) and I found myself watching with her and noticed some mistranslated sentences, so I decided to join and help out^^. I make mistakes too, but I wanted to help as much as I can so viewers can understand the dramas properly. I don't use ViiKii to watch anything as I download them the moment it comes out >< (I'm still addicted...and I prefer watching in HD quality ^^;) Therefore ViiKii's usage is only for subbing purposes in my spare time.
jkimx6
Found Viikii by accident--have loved being a member of the community ever since. Usually translate from Korean to English, and do a bit of French subbing on the side. I generally do a lot of subs at one time (in the middle of the night), then have to take a break for a couple of days. I try to grant sub requests when time (and interest) allows.
whitewinter84
I come to ViiKii to watch my favorite Korean and Japanese dramas. I also come online to help sub korean dramas and do whatever kind of translating people may need help with.
3)Boys over Flowers. Overhyped or Lovin' it?
xeunyoungie
I loved the jversion more >< but kversion's actors were definitely better looking ^^;; Kdrama tends to drag on sometimes, I thought the jversion was more to the point. To me, each version had its pros and cons, but if I had to choose one...it would be the jversion. It's hard to do a remake though (so the drama wouldn't be an exact copy). I think Korea had it tough since the jversion was soo good...haha I give them props for trying ^^
jkimx6
BOF was fun, but nothing extraordinary. The Japanese version was better executed and had better acting, BUT the Korean version had much better "eye candy" ^_^
whitewinter84
What can I say. I loved the japanese version. Good acting and good dramatization of the original manga. The music, the mood... It all worked.
The korean version on the other hand... a bit overhyped if you asked me. Mediocre acting and didn't like how the manga was adapted (in respect to the plot and character development).
Let's leave it this way, Makino Tsukushi was dressed in Celine's uber chic and classic Pret-a-Porter... Jan-Di was dressed like a Mc Donald's Big Mac... Enough said... (Please don't throw rocks at me for that... it's just one person opinion.... HAHAHHA....)
4)Please tell me which drama that you really liked but you felt that it was
underrated? :(
xeunyoungie
Hmm.. it's so hard to think back to all the dramas i've watched=o=... but from the top of my head.. I would say...... 9end2outs? was the most underrated drama that I really liked.. :P
I'm sure there are more.. but I'll just choose this one..
jkimx6
I really enjoyed "Partner" and felt that each episode had a lot going for it; maybe because the different "cases" brought something fresh to the drama.
whitewinter84
I really enjoyed Ja-Myung Go. Although the plot dragged out quite a bit, when the drama was good, it was very good. Solid acting with a very intriguing story line, beautiful scenery and costumes.
If it hadn't had to compete with East of Eden (way overrated) and then BOF and then Queen SD (the final nail on the death bed)... maybe it would have had a chance...
If you get a chance, watch it...
5)What's your pet peeve when you are contributing? (lagging/nagging from viewers/profanity in comments from viewers/ no peeves, I'm happy with the world, etc.)
xeunyoungie
Not sure.. I'm pretty cool about everything...don't mind people editing my subs as I don't usually check what I typed, and I usually don't add the
s to make the subs looks "pretty"...so sorry for troubling you.. ><
I tend to edit subs...(I'm not trying to be rude/mean/etc, sorry if I've offended you >< but sometimes I see subs that that has an entirely different meaning from what was intended=o=)
Also, I know it bothered the segmenters about the "subbing while segmenting" >< I was new to ViiKii so I didn't understand how I could tell when the segments were done, so I've subbed twice (I think) while they were still segmenting.. then I realized a lot of segmenters comment when they're done segmenting.. sorry for not noticing earlier.. =o= I swear I wasn't subbing to watch it though! >< Usually, by the time I'm subbing, I've already watched that particular episode ^^;
jkimx6
I guess if I have one it would have to be the contributors who feel their work is so perfect that it can't stand a little tweaking here and there. I think some of us are a bit too sensitive to having our "masterpieces" re-worked. I'm all for producing a better translation and if someone else comes up with it, then bully for them. And thanks to those who have edited my subs in a kind and sensitive manner. Kudos!
whitewinter84
I think one of my biggest peeves is seeing people whine or overreact on the forums. Granted people are excited and then upset at broken links, all of us are volunteering our precious time to deliver a quality done product. There are so many great viewers out there, if only everybody could lend more support instead of random complaints, I think that would make everyone's life on Viikii that much better!
**Fellow Angels, pls pm me your answers
I'll post all their answers here soon, ViiKiiers feel free to ask them anything, or leave a thank you msg and stuff :)
Love and ice cream
