Project Smile

Project Smile
Official Launch Date: January 8, 2010
Updated (in Red): January 14th, 2010

Objective: To express international fans' great love and appreciation for Smile You production team and cast's efforts and achievements. To show our support and confirm their hard work.

Content: There will be 4 sub-projects, of which 3 sub-projects, Fan Messages, Fan Art, and Smiler Jargon & Fun Facts, will be included in our Smiler Diary booklet. The booklet will journal through Smilers' reactions and comments in episode-chronological order on the Smile You fandom journey. The leadership team may be using your comments/posts for the Diary, with your screen name (of the website/community it was taken from) cited. If you do not wish to have your comments included in the Smiler Diary, please notify us by email or PM.

Sub-Project: Fan Messages
Team Leaders: Yon & lvalue
Process: Smilers will write up short messages to cast/crew in their ethnic language or language of choice, then supply its English translation below it so it can be translated by lvalue to Korean (Please refer to picture below). Smilers should include their name (nickname is fine), resident city and/or country at the end. All messages must be in Microsoft Word. SY's production team and cast will only see your ethnic language or language of choice and it's Korean translation, with your name and country at the end. Using English is for the translator's benefit in translating to Korean. Fan Messages will be printed and compiled in the Smiler Diary for delivery to SY cast/crew in Korea.
Note: Languages display different in different versions. So please indicate what version your Windows platform is, edition of your Microsoft Word, and Font. I.e. Windows 7/XP/Vista, Word 7. Times New Roman.
Submission Deadline: Febuary 1, 2010

Sub-Project: Fan Art
Team Leader: Sneige
Process: Fan Art includes graphics of any kind relating to Smile You, cast, production crew, and may include banners, hand drawings, wallpapers, and pictures. You may submit or nominate (granted you have that person's permission) any previously made fan art to projectsmile@ymail.com. Fan Art will be printed and compiled in the Smiler Diary for delivery to SY cast/crew in Korea.
Submission Deadline: Febuary 1, 2010

Sub-Project: Fan Videos
Team Leader: Ch0uxpastryheart
Process: Fan videos should focus on Smile You production rather than an actor or actresses previous works. You may submit or nominate (again, granted you have that person's permission) any previously made fan MVs/videos to projectsmile@ymail.com. Fan Videos will be burned into CD(s) for delivery to SY cast/crew in Korea.
Submission Deadline: Febuary 1, 2010

Sub-Project: Smiler Jargon & Fun Facts
Team Leaders: sqd66 & blue_angel_1004
Process: Compilation of Smiler diction and expressions, as well as weird or fun statistics regarding SY and Smilers' family. It will be included in the Smiler Diary.

Smilers International: We have recruited a friend of a Smiler to design our logo and it will be printed on the booklets and attached to wrapping.

*All submissions or nominations or concerns should be emailed to projectsmile@ymail.com with the subject field detailing what sub-project or area the email is in regards toward. General questions may also be PM-ed to specific leaders.

As you all may have guessed, I have been cajoled from an advisory role to interim Project Leader. However, due to my real life obligations and time constraints, I will need Smilers to step forward as leaders and volunteers. This project can only succeed and have the desired impact on our beloved SY cast and crew with fellow Smilers contributions and participation. It's perfectly fine if you do not have graphic or video making skill sets. A fan message, spreading the word to other SY fan pages (i.e. Viikii, Facebook, etc.), nominating and recruiting fellow Smilers to participate are all contributions to make this project successful. So, let's get started! How much do you love Soo-In and Smile You? biggrin.gif

Update January 14th, 2010: Please be aware of the deadline changes. We have moved it up due to inside information that filming should be wrapping up in late Feb, unless additional illness/injury delays filming. If we would like to give our gifts by their end-filming celebration party, lvalue Oppa needs at least a couple weeks to have the booklets printed and wrapped before he delivers it.

We're currently seeking 3 graphically-inclined Smilers with photoshop skills to join our leadership team. Above all else, this is ourmost crucial missing element right now and any nominations would be highly appreciated.

We're also currently debating printing methods. Many on the leadership team would like to have the booklet professionally printed, but our concern is the expenses this will incur if multiple booklets are printed for the cast & crew. We would like Smiler input on this issue and your solutions as well. Please post your opinions as soon as possible to help us come to a decision. Thank you Smilers in advance for joining our efforts. biggrin.gif
