Four siblings – all named after valuable gems – kick out their troublesome parents and try to manage on their own. Bi Chwi (Jade) and Ryu Bi (Ruby), the two oldest, try to support their younger brothers, San Ho (Coral) and Ho Bak (Amber), as they finish school. They take in two boarders to help pay the bills – an American who is trying to become a monk and a mysterious man who seems to be down on his luck. Can they run their household and find true happiness without the support of their parents?
