The Life History of the "Don't Hesitate" Channel by kamkar1
It started with Assorted Gem! Yes it did.
I was looking for help with translation and asked dramadramaok on soompi for her help. She was generous enough to share her subs with us for Family Honor, so I begged for more, as I do all the time.
She said yes and not only helped, but became our Angel! I wanted to do something for her even if it was small. When I saw her subbing "Don't Hesitate", I asked to become the moderator and pm her to let her know. She said she was helping with that drama because another friend asked her to. But she welcomed my help.
This drama was not very popular and my real job in life is PR. So, I started to strongly promoting this drama by commenting on everything and also welcomed every comment. To our delight, we had the scene with the pool at the start of drama which was the best topic to begin our chats over six packs. To motivate and thank our teammate I started a monthly poll with the help of alliesv.
Dramadramaok finished subbing 8 episodes in about 3 or 4 days. While my teammates, the segmenters, would segment at the speed of light to catch up with dramaok. Everyone was working so fast that I called our team, "The Crazy Team.
Orangbetawi, GaEul, AuntieMame, Agathat, Nounoune, tpham, dellie, Ronda21, sallu, LaaLaa, pumpkinattack,YukLeung, tropicalover, gerryg, getawayfrom, Kakashindme, lsk4020, cruella, jtmt12, cici26 started to join "The Crazy Team".
Then, disaster strucked! We started to have so many broken links because of videos being deleted. And, our magician, GaEul, was amazing in trying to fix the links, even while people kept asking for them to be fixed.
In order to take their mind off of the subject of the broken links, I started you're the six-packs section. It became a hit instantaneously. And, this brought more people to join in.
Adumbrate, my beautiful Angel, who is now one of my most capable 'partners in crime' and shanah, juby, sammi510 also joined in, at this point. Our crazy family grew so fast due to the length of the drama and the 'crazy' events in the drama. As a result of which, we had more time and subjects to share, chat and get closer with each other.
Only our 'crazy' channel would have 'crazy' discussions on subjects as diverse as Korean recipes, car care, how to kill zombies, weather reports, good AND bad restaurant reviews, plus many more.
When, we got more broken links, nounoune joined GaEul to help fix the links. It was a really hard time, at that point, and we all worked very hard to keep the channel going. Then, we had more saviors, jane316 and StarlighO, joined to help us, too.
At the same time, cuteneedle joined and started to post comments and reply to comments too. Then, the fun really began when we got our first "Out of the Closet" male joining the club, our very own Otty.
For the next couple of weeks, everyone started to come up with nick names for the characters. And truly that was the best time in the history of the life of DH. I loved it when we all still had hope for our Brain Fart. We thought she would get better. Thank goodness that we had our Hot cake and six packs to keep us going.
The Crazy Theories and Fan-fictions topic was started ^^by juby. And, we even had our own "Crystal Hotel", where we all went to 'chill' and get heated by Hotcake, cupcake and all the members in the six-pack pictures. And, the pièce de résistance was our very own Poem Coffee Shop, which received totally awesome poetry from members of our 'crazy' family.
Our segmenters team grew to more than 20 people. To whom I could run to and ask for help. They are: adumbrate, sallu, Xamjil, shanah, GaEul44, Shiostar25, agatha, swanjas52, rossmd, sjchung, welkinblue, crimson8, juby, cruella, swanjas52, cgwm808, pumpkinattack andAndreasousa. I can honestly challenge anyone to show me another channel that has these many segmenters ready to help.
More and more people joined our channel. And, when saboriana, bohkian,tomifudge, shedevil777, posh, tkah, gossipgirl2122, mamie and so many more (I am sorry if I forgot anybody) joined the comment board, around two month ago, the number of pages soared. For the first 3 months, we had around 150 pages of comments. After that, 250 pages were added in the blink of an eye.
Our six packs section became the talk of the Viikii community. Then, we had even more inspiration and started our own catering services to serve" Pigs in a Blanket".
Now, we've passed one million views and have become the most watched and most popular drama on Viikii.
Is the storyline of "Don't Hesitate" that good? No, not really.
Is the acting superb? No, not really.
Besides our Hotcake, there are not that many reasons to watch; especially when our Brain Fart is beyond redemption.
But DH made it big and the reasons are:
First and foremost, dramadramaok, who subbed like 'crazy'. Without her, there would have been no 'crazy' lightening speed subs on viikii.
Next is our own 'crazy' team of segmenters.
And, lastly, our own 'crazy' fan club of commenters, poets, theorists and fan-fic writers.
When this drama is over, I will be sad. But I will never forget that we all are forever and ever part of the crazy team on Viikii.
