Actor Kim Rae-won has been discharged from the military and has resumed his activities.
Kim, who made a quiet return to being a civilian on Tuesday after two years of serving as a public service officer, started on his official activities the same day by taking part in the photoshoot for UNICEF's autumn catalogue, UNICEF Korea said through a press release on Wednesday.
Kim had been participating in a variety of activities for the organization since being appointed a special representative of UNICEF in October 2007, and in the catalogue, he will introduce the various products UNICEF sells, such as t-shirts, cards and scarves, to help the children in need around the world.
"I've completed my military services so I think I'll be able to carry out my work for UNICEF with my heart at more ease now. I'd also like to do some volunteer work overseas next year," Kim was quoted as saying.
Kim made his debut with a role in MBC's drama "Me" in 1997 and became a household name in 2003 after starring in "Rooftop Room Cat."
He last starred as a chef in SBS' "Gourmet," which also aired in several countries in Asia, before entering the military in September 2009.
He will make his comeback to the small screen in a new drama tentatively titled "Chun-il's Promise" set to begin its air on September 26 after current series "The Warrior, Baek Dong-soo" ends its run.
