A Motion Picture about a true story. Base on a bestseller novel written by Andrea Hirata.
It's about a Childhood Story of the Author when he was in elementary school. Ikal (the nickname of the Author) because of his poverty cannot afford to have study in regular school, so his Father send him to a school name SD Muhammadiyah, a school with low payment but poor facilities in that area (Belitung Island). Because of the poor facilities, only a few children who like to join the school. Due the policy from goverment that they can only provide a class with minimum 10 children, This school only have 1 class for years.
This movie takes plot about the activities of Ikal and his friends in education by their teachers Bu Muslimah and Pak Harfan that tell us they maybe poor but intellectual and imagination are borderless.
