A)General Guidelines:

1) Positoning of the subs

I think the positioning is really important as to fully enhance the viewers

experience. They are called 'viewers' for a reason, not 'readers'.

Hence, the use of
is important to break the sentence up. WHERE you put the

is also important, as
s that are not strategically placed makes the subs

hard to read as well.

Therefore, good subs are the subs that goes unnoticed,as if the viewers understand

the language itself. They should NOT be focusing on the subs!

Personally, I would prefer the positioning to be something like:

________________________

Instead of one LONG sentence: _________________________________

Or equal length: __________________

__________________ (this makes it hard to read as well)

For example:

The sentence: I love you! Please, please agree to this request, I don't care of you are ugly or not, fat or skinny, young or old!

The subs : I love you! Please, please agree to this request, I don't care if

you are ugly or not, fat or skinny,young or old!

See? The second sentence below has a pattern of :

______________________

This means the sentence below is ALWAYS shorter than the sentence above.

On hindsight, it seems that the videos have CHI HARDSUBS, so before you input

any subs, please put in
to lower the subs so that the person who wants to enjoy the chinese subtitles can choose to do so.

Also please note that
is different from
as
adjust the position of the sentence to the middle as well as lowering the sentence.

Therefore, in light of Update 1A) the guideline 1) will not be used UNLESS there are no chinese subs.

Please take note yea~This rule will be effective from episode 2 onwards

2) To follow or not to follow?

This refers to the dialogue. Always a dilemma: To translate literally OR give your

take on it? I think, in this situation, use your own judgement.

Like if the chinese proverb is not literally understandable in english, use an english

proverb of equivalent meaning.

Additionally, please give an explanation on the literal meaning in the DISCUSSION

section.

3)Inputting subtitles in which box?

I know this may seem silly, but a lot of translators do actually 'accidentally' type their subs in

the WRONG language box(myself included).

Eg:Someone who wants to watch it in Polish gets a Malay subtitle instead.

So, just make sure you don't make that mistake yea :)

4)Appearance and Presentation

a) If your subs is the starting sentence, please start with CAPITAL letters.

i.e. you know it's wrong.

You know it's wrong.

b) Continuation sentence: SMALL letters please.

i.e. You know it's wrong,

Don't you?

You know it's wrong,

don't you?

c) This is very very minor, but I hope it is noted as well :-

NO MATTER where you put your "i' s it must be in CAPITAL.

............................ I know, I'm a OCD sufferer remember?

Eg: I know i am in the wrong.

I know I am in the wrong. (So, just try to put CAPSLOCK on for the I's yea? Please?)

B)Specific Guidelines:

These applies to the channel's drama:

1) Name of drama: I know there are a lot of a.k.a s (fairytale below starlight, because

of you, etc . But please use Fairytale Below Starry Skies for consistency.

2) The actor's real names: Please use the English names+Surname, whenever

possible, for increased understandibility and make it

more relatable for the viewers

Eg: Lai Ya Yan @ Megan Lai

3) Character's names:

Realname @ Character's name(in the drama)

• Baron Chen as Sun Fan 孫帆@ Mr. Mysterious X / Mysterious X
• Megan Lai as Yu You Tong 于佑彤 @ Wang You Tong(fake name)
• Lego Li as Fang Zi Hao 方子浩
• Tanaka Chie (田中千繪) as Xing Ye Zhen 星野真@ Xing-chan(her mother calls her that)
• Luo Bei An as Sun Yu 孫宇 Baron@ Sun Fan's dad
• Jatfei Wong as Sun Wang 孫旺
• Bai Yun (白雲) as Yu Qing Gong 于慶功
