SBS' historical drama "Deep Rooted Tree" ended its two month run this week, maintaining its title as the most-watched show on the Wednesday and Thursday night for the 11th time. "Tree," starring Han Suk-kyu, Shin Se-gyeong and Jang Huk, pulled in ratings of 19.7 percent on Wednesday night and had 23.6 percent of the audience tune in on its final episode, according to the figures by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Friday. A Korean film starring actor Song Joong-ki and actress Park Bo-young went into shoot this week, according to the movie's local distributor CJ Entertainment on Thursday. A press release by CJ said that the Song and Park starrer "Teenage Wolf" (tentative title), helmed by critically acclaimed director Jo Sung-hee, cranked in on December 21. "Wolf," which tells the story of how an orphaned wolf boy (Song) and a cold-hearted girl (Park) learn to love each other, will open in local theaters during the late half of next year. A number of top Korean actors and actresses will be attendance for the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) to be held later this month, according to a press release from CJ E&M. On Tuesday, CJ E&M announced that Lee Byung-hun, Song Seung-heon, Song Joong-ki, Park Si-hoo, Ji-sung, Ko Soo, Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Hee-seon, Han Chae-young, Yoon Eun-hye, Han Hyo-joo and Kim Min-hee will join the festivities for MAMA which will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 29. Actor Song Joong-ki has been cast in a new historical drama set to air in September, informed his agency Sidus HQ on Tuesday. According to a press release by Sidus HQ, Song will play a young prince in an upcoming historical drama titled "A Tree With Deep Roots" (translated title), also starring actors Han Suk-kyu, Jang Hyuk and actress Shin Se-gyeong. The drama, which is set in 15th century Korea, will deal with a case involving the serial murder of royal scholars in the palace just a week ahead of King's Sejong's declaration of Hunminjeongeum, an earlier form of the Korean character Hangeul. Korean actor Song Joong-ki in Japan. [QTV] A special TV program of Korean actor Song Joong-ki on his trip to Japan will air next month, according to the show's broadcaster QTV on Monday.
