SBS's new medical drama OB-GYN is piling on the cameo appearances as celebrities make guest spots as patients. The drama is doing middling numbers in the 10% range but has met with generally favorable response.
The first two episodes last week featured actress-MC Hyun Young, and adds several more guests with this week's episodes: Story of a Man's Han Yeo-woon, comedienne-actress Kim Mi-ryeo, actress Hwang Hyo-eun (Assorted Gems, Style), and actor Sung Ji-ru (A Star's Lover).
The three actresses' spots can be seen in the third episode, which aired yesterday (the 10th) and notably carried a 19+ age label - unusual for broadcast television. Perhaps it has to do with the nature of the medical conditions, given that this drama takes place in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
For instance, Kim Mi-ryeo's ailment shows symptoms similar to vaginitis, while Han Yeo-woon suffers from MRKH syndrome, which is a condition marked by deformations of the vagina. Hwang Hyo-eun, meanwhile, plays a pregnant woman who ends up giving birth at a grocery store.
Thursday's episode features Sung Ji-ru as the husband of a brain-dead pregnant wife. In a particularly emotional scene, he says goodbye to his wife go after their baby is born.
Hyun Young appeared last week as a pregnant celeb wife dealing with a possible Down Syndrome baby:
