Takaki and Akari have been the best of friends since elementary school, but their budding young love is hampered when Akari’s family moves away. They try to stay in touch through letters, but Takaki finds it harder to put his feelings down on paper as he grows older and loses touch with his emotions. When Takaki decides to go visit Akari, severe weather delays leave Takaki wondering if he will ever be able to see Akari again. Can the young lovers overcome the challenges of time and distance?
