I don't know enough about ellipses to go on my own about it.^^ Now you see why I needed your help? But unfortunately I still don't really understand it yet, not from your answer to my inquiry, but hopefully after I read your topic on ellipses I might see the light? Looking forward to your new ellipses topic. And take care of yourself. I was having the worst heat wave in my area last week...I feel I was going to faint from exhaustion just from the heat alone!

Several issues you need to take into considersation for the Ellipses topic: 1. I want an International standardized ellipses format, the simplest and easiest one to use for everyone in different countries. Current issue is that many people in different countries know English, but uses different type of ellipses formats. Unfortunately there are way too many ways to use the ellipses, and many people are confused. And because when we are using the ellipses in the internet, we need to consider all the language issues and the way the ellipses usage were taught in their schools. So I am thinking we should just create an International ellipses system for everyone. I really don't understand why we would need to space after an ellipses in a sentence when the sentence did not end yet. I think it is just a waste of the space, time and us typing it. For example: I don't know... why should we space? Zilly example: I don't know...why should we space? And why would we need four dots to indicate the ending of a sentence? 3 dots are enough and just space, then cap the first letter of the new sentence. Example: I don't know... why we space.... Maybe because it means something? Zilly example: I don't know...why we space... Maybe because it means something? The sentence examples above are just to give you an idea of what I meant. Hope this clarifies my thoughts on the subject and help you along on the issue of my ellipses problem. Thanks!

Martha, The post you did of the Ellipsis is still useful for me, please keep it on the Dong Yi channel for now. But I hope you don't mind if I copy it (with full credit to you) and post it up in our Zimi website for our subbers and grammar editors to use?

Martha, As always, you give a great post...unfortunately...in the case of the ellipses [please don't kill me]...you wrote on the wrong subject ;p I meant ellipses as in: A mark or series of marks ( . . . or * * * , for example) used in writing or printing to indicate an omission, especially of letters or words. The dot-dot-dots style format of the ellipses, that is what I need your help with -___- I don't know if you still want to help me with this issue as you did so much already -___- But you can look at my Translation Notes in Dong Yi and comments posted by KimYunmi & I and the ellipses supporting links: http://www.kentlaw.edu/academics/lrw/grinker/LwtaEllipses.htm I http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis ellipse examples. I think Kentlaw's method is out of date, while mine is just simpler to use:D I like simple and easy. But I actually really really need this settle because in the future, I am setting the subbing guidelines for our Zimi website subbers. That is a lot of subbers that might use the wrong ellipses. Or I can just create the Zilly method of the ellipses^^ So I hope you would still help me with this...as there might be a couple of thousand of subbers using it.

Oh. It means that many soldiers were killed in a short period of time... Do you understand what I mean? Yes.. I am still learning English and we have so many different meanings in a word, so it is hard for thoes who cannot speak korean to understand it... Thank you for asking and feel free to ask me!!!

Hello MarthaD, as a fan of the german team, I was like you at first, I did not think of winning the game as in my mind there was still the "old glory" of England but somehow it wasn't and then the no-goal, we could not believe it either, but .... happens! And for now we all at our place while watching the game, came to one conclution - the curse of Wembley will be gone by now - so maybe in 4 or 8 years England will finally getting the second star. I think even I was a bit disapointed about the english team. But we will see Argentina is a big task. Cheer up!
