The Stranger (1946) is an American film noir set after World War II about an investigator from the Allied War Crimes Commission who travels to Connecticut to find an infamous Nazi who has assumed a false identity. The screenplay, written by Victor Trivas, was nominated for an Oscar. It is believed that this is the first film released after World War II that showed footage of concentration camps.
