Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band that first formed in 1994 under the name Kara’s Flowers while members Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick were still in high school. After an unsuccessful first album, the members attended college and regrouped in 2001, added member James Valentine, and took the name of Maroon 5. The new group’s first album in 2002 spawned several big hits and garnered it a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. In 2006, drummer Ryan Dusick left the band and was replaced by Matt Flynn. The group’s subsequent albums have produced a number of No. 1 and worldwide hits. The group’s name recognition also was bolstered by Adam Levine’s appearance as a coach on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” since 2011. Watch the music videos of the group’s hit songs “Payphone,” “She Will Be Loved,” “This Love,” “Sunday Morning,” and “Misery.”
