In 1908, a small band of Korean freedom fighters are trying to liberate the nation from Imperial Japanese colonial rule. When the militants secure a stunning victory against the colonial army, one of their leaders, Ahn Jung Geun (Hyun Bin), decides to take mercy on the soldiers they have captured. This causes many of the freedom fighters to question Jung Geun’s devotion to the cause. A year later, the militants are forced to once again rally behind Jung Geun as they travel to Harbin, China. Their mission is to thwart talks between the Japanese Prime Minister and Russian officials. But an insider appears to be leaking details of their mission to the enemy. Can his brave group make a heroic stand against tyranny – or are their efforts set to end in tragedy?
