Choi Sooyoung, also known simply as Sooyoung, is a South Korean singer and actress. Born on February 10, 1990, she is best known for being a member of the popular K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation. She was discovered through an open audition while she was only in fifth grade and later won first place at the 2002 Korea-Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition, which allowed her to debut in the Korean-Japanese duo Route θ. The group disbanded in 2003 after releasing three singles. Sooyoung then debuted with Girls’ Generation in 2007. In addition to her musical activities, Sooyoung made her acting debut in the 2008 television drama “Unstoppable Marriage” and the 2008 film “Hello, Schoolgirl.” She has since starred in the popular dramas “The 3rd Hospital” (2012), “Dating Agency: Cyrano” (2013), “My Spring Days” (2014), “Squad 38” (2016) and “Man Who Sets the Table” (2017-2018). Sooyoung also has hosted a number of popular shows, including the 2014 Miss Korea Pageant. Sooyoung is the younger sister of Choi Soo Jin, a musical theater actress.
