Yesung is the stage name of Kim Jong Woon, a South Korean singer and actor. Born on August 24, 1984, he is best known for being a member of the popular K-pop boy band Super Junior and its subgroups Super Junior-K.R.Y., Super Junior-H and S.M. The Ballad. Yesung, whose stage name is derived from a Korean phrase that means “art-like voice,” was discovered after he won gold at a singing competition in 1999 and then participated in an open casting audition in 2001. He was signed by SM Entertainment that year and debuted with Super Junior in 2005. He made his acting debut in the 2007 film “Attack on the Pin-Up Boys,” which starred the members of Super Junior, and also starred in the television dramas “Awl” (2015) and “Voice” (2017).
