Kim Eui Sung is an award-winning veteran South Korean film actor. Born on December 17, 1965, he made his acting debut in the 1995 film “Mom Has a Lover” and has enjoyed a prolific career in films since then. His role in the 2016 film “Train to Busan” garnered him the Best Supporting Actor at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards. He branched into television dramas with “Six Flying Dragons” (2015-2016) and “W” (2016), for which he won Best Supporting Actor at the 2016 APAN Star Awards and the 2016 MBC Drama Awards.

On December 12, 1979, South Korea’s president, Park Chung Hee was assassinated. Acting in direct defiance of Acting President Han Gyu (Jung Dong Hwan), Major General Chun Doo Gwang (Hwang Jung Min) and the officers who followed him, arrest General Jeong Sang Ho (Lee Sung Min), the Republic Of Korea’s Army Chief of Staff, on allegations of involvement in the late president’s murder, clearing the way for a national coup d'état.

Following the capture of General Jeong, an impressive military presence sets itself up in downtown Seoul in support of Major General Chun. Utterly appalled by Major General Chun’s grab for power, Commander Lee Tae Shin (Jung Woo Sung) of the Capital Garrison Command rallies forces to take a stand against Chun Doo Gwang.&nbsp;

Fighting against those trying to seize power, Commander Lee does everything he can to stop the insurrection. During the Joseon Dynasty, King Lee Jo (Kim Eui Sang) is a toady of the Qing Emperor in China – and the Crown Prince decides to attempt a coup to free the nation from the Qing’s influence. His plan involves buying arquebuses, an early form of firearm, from Dutch traders.

However, a rival plot is being hatched by the war minister Kim Ja Joon (Jang Dong Gun), who wants to launch a rebellion and take the Joseon throne. Kim Ja Joon exposes the Crown Prince’s scheme and foils him.

The Crown Prince agrees to commit suicide if his men are spared but sends word to his brother Gang Lim (Hyun Bin), who is now in Qing territory, that he wants his brother to take care of his pregnant wife.

The minister orders his troops to board the Dutch traders’ cargo ships to seize the weapons.

But while aboard, one of the soldiers is bitten by a terrifying zombie being kept in a cage.

Fund manager Seok Woo (Gong Yoo) lives in Seoul and is separated from his wife.

His life is his work, and he spends relatively little time with his young daughter, who misses him very much.

She asks him to grant him a birthday wish – to take her to the seaside city of Busan. He agrees and decides to take her out for the day on the KTX, a high-speed express train that links some of South Korea’s biggest cities.

They board the train, along with a number of fellow passengers, including a young couple who are expecting a baby, a homeless man, and the members of a high school baseball team.

One more passenger also boards, just as the train is preparing to pull out of the station – a flesh-eating zombie!

The zombie bites and infects a member of the train’s crew, and together the two zombies run rampant on the KTX, turning a large number of the passengers into zombies, too.

Outside the train, things are even worse. A full-blown zombie pandemic is raging, and many cities fall to the flesh-eaters.

The South Korean military manages to establish a safe haven in Busan – so Seok Woo and the other non-zombie survivors must pool their wits if they are to escape the train without getting infected!
