A great territorial dispute breaks out in a small Kansas town called Abilene in the years following the Civil War. As one of the biggest cattle towns of the Wild West, the town has barely maintained the underlying tensions between the cattlemen who want to keep the prairies open for grazing and the homesteaders who want to develop the open land. Town Marshall Dan Mitchell (Randolph Scott) has managed to maintain the delicate peace between the two groups by separating them to opposite ends of town. But when a new group of homesteaders, lead by Henry Dreiser (Lloyd Bridges), come to town and lay claim to cattle land, trouble erupts. Can peace be restored in the small western town? “Abilene Town” is a 1946 American western film directed by Edwin L. Marin.
