When you’re a new insurance investigator, your first case will always be memorable. For Jeon Joon Oh (Hwang Jung Min), it’s the case that won’t let go. On his first day on the job, Joon Oh gets a strange call from a woman asking if a life insurance policy could be collected on a person who commits suicide. A few days later, a policyholder named Park Chung Bae (Kang Shin Il) asks Joon Oh to come to his home. When Joon Oh gets there, the man asks Joon Oh to have a talk with his son. When Joon Oh, opens the son’s room door, he finds the boy hanging from a noose in an apparent suicide. For the next several days in a row, Chung Bae shows up at Joon Oh’s office demanding his son’s life insurance money until Joon Oh’s boss pays him to get rid of him. But the case doesn’t end there. Joon Oh soon starts being stalked by a strange man… “Black House” is a 2007 South Korean horror film directed by Shin Tae Ra. It is based on the novel The Black House by Yusuke Kishi, who won the Grand Prize at the 4th annual Japan Horror Story Awards for the book in 1997. A Japanese film based on the novel was released in 1999.
