There are crazier ideas in life. When three friends are reunited at a friend’s funeral, one of them gets a crazy idea. The death of Sang Woo brings together his old friends from college who used to be a part of a rock band called the Active Volcano. It turns out the former band mates are not dong too great in their current lives. Gi Young (Jung Jin Young), who used to be the lead guitarist, is now unemployed. Former base player Sung Wook (Kim Yun Seok) works two jobs but is still having a hard time making ends meet. Former drummer Hyuk Soo (Kim Sang Ho) also is struggling as a single father working as a car salesman. When Gi Young suggests that they resurrect their old college rock band, Sung Wook and Hyuk Soo think it’s the craziest idea that’s not even worth considering. But with Gi Young’s constant pestering and their former leader Sang Woo’s son, Hyun Joon (Jang Geun Suk), as their new frontman, could the crazy idea possibly work? “The Happy Life” is a 2007 South Korean film directed by Lee Joon Ik. The film was adapted into a stage musical directed by Oh Man Seok in 2008.
