Wen Jiajia (Tang Wei) is happy living as the lover of a rich but corrupt businessman. Despite the fact that her lover is already married, she is content to be pampered and showered with gifts – until she discovers she is pregnant with his child.
Facing legal issues in China, she decides to head to Seattle, in the United States, so that she can give birth to the baby in an illegal maternity center.
While in Seattle, she meets a divorced Chinese taxi driver named Frank (Wu Xiu Bo), who she recognizes as a former heart surgeon. Frank has come to take care of his daughter while his former wife prepares to come to the United States.
In an unexpected twist, Wen Jiajia's boyfriend suddenly runs into financial difficulties in China, leaving her suddenly short of funds.
Down on her luck, she confides in Frank. The two slowly form a bond, and an unlikely relationship appears to be on the cards.
But when the money starts flowing back in, will Wen Jiajia choose to return to her boyfriend – and her former life of luxury – in China? Or could she take a chance on what might turn out to be true love with Frank?
