Youn Yuh Jung is a celebrated veteran South Korean actress whose career spans more than five decades. Born on June 19, 1947, she made her acting debut in the 1967 television drama “Mr. Gong,” for which she won the Best New Talent award at the TBC Drama Awards in 1969. Many celebrated roles in both films and television followed. In 1975, Youn Yuh Jung married singer Jo Young Nam and immigrated to the United States before returning in 1984 to resume her acting career. They divorced in 1987. Some of her recent award-winning roles include the films “The Housemaid” (2010), “Canola” (2016) and “The Bacchus Lady” (2016), as well as the television dramas “My Husband Got a Family” (2012), “Wonderful Days” (2014) and “Dear My Friends” (2016). Youn Yuh Jung also starred in the popular cooking reality series “Youn’s Kitche” (2017) and “Youn’s Kitchen 2” (2018).

Steven Yeun is a Korean-American actor who was born on December 21, 1983, in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to North America when still a child and was educated in Michigan, in the United States. He appeared in the long-running sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” in 2010 and shot to fame after playing the character Glenn Rhee in the hit US television series “The Walking Dead” (2010–2016). He also appeared in the film “Burning” (2018). He has since appeared in the hit movie “Minari” (2020).

Han Ye Ri is the stage name of Kim Ye Ri, an award-winning South Korean actress. Born on December 23, 1984, she began her career by acting in short films and indie films. She has since then had a prolific career in mainstream films, including “As One” (2012), for which she won Best New Actress at the 49th Baeksang Arts Awards, as well as “Commitment” (2013) and “Haemoo” (2014). She also has appeared in the television dramas “Imaginary Cat” (2015), “Six Flying Dragons” (2015) and “Switch” (2018).

Alan Kim is an American actor who was born on April 23, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He moved with his family to Irvine, California, and in 2020 made his acting debut – at the age of eight – in the Korean-American movie “Minari” (2020). He was rewarded with a Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer and was also nominated in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category at the 2021 BAFTA awards.

Will Patton is an American actor who was born on June 14, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. He made his movie debut in the early 1980s and starred alongside Susan Sarandon and Madonna in the movie “Desperately Seeking Susan” in 1985. In 1987, he starred with Kevin Costner in the film “No Way Out.” In 2004, he starred in “The Punisher.” More recently, he has appeared in 2019’s “Hammer” and 2020’s “Minari.”

In the 1980s, Jacob Yi (Steven Yeun) decides to uproot his family, which includes his wife Monica (Han Ye Ri), son David (Alan Kim), and daughter Anne (Noel Cho), from a relatively comfortable life in California to a rural location in Arkansas – where he dreams of creating a huge farm where he can grow vegetables popular in South Korea but very hard to find in the United States. They are joined by Monica’s mother Soon Ja (Youn Yuh Jung), who arrives from South Korea laden with grocery goodies, minari seeds, and a penchant for playing cards. The plan is for her to look after Anne and David while Jacob and Monica tend to the farm.

The family starts to devote itself to making Jacob’s unlikely dream come true, even if the stresses of the relocation lead him to bicker with Monica – to David’s displeasure. As the stress of farm life begins to tell, Monica pleads with Jacob to let the family return to California. But when one of their number suddenly falls ill, a strange chain of events is sparked – one that may ultimately decide the fate of their farm...and Jacob and Monica’s relationship.
