Synopsis
It is the summer of the third year of high school, and the normally straight-laced 17-year-old Umi Sakura (Mio Yuki) finds herself strangely attracted to Mahiro Harukawa (Yuki Inoue), an older classmate who has become the school’s biggest rebel. With his outstanding dyed hair and his sneering attitude to authority, teachers and fellow students alike think that he is trouble. But Umi Sakura and Mahiro Harukawa share unhappy memories of abuse at the hands of the adults in their lives, and their difficult pasts draw them closer together – even though he warns her that his love could be tinged with darkness.
They soon find a strange and troubling quest to share, when they come across a voice message left on a cellphone answering machine. The message is from a boy who appears to be telephoning Santa Claus, although he gives some shocking information and makes an unsettling Christmas request. As they look into the message, they realize that originates from a number that technically could not make calls. The deeper they look, the darker the mystery becomes – even threatening to derail their young lives…
