As a child, Shinichiro Kiyama (Ryunosuke Kamiki) lost his entire family in a tragic plane crash, leading to a life of isolation and loneliness that persists into adulthood. But his life takes a turn when he develops a mysterious ability to see through people who are about to die, dubbed "Fortuna's Eye" by his doctor. While struggling with his new condition, Shinichiro meets Aoi Kiryu (Kasumi Arimura) when he needs to get his phone repaired, and is immediately attracted to her cheerful demeanor. However, when he returns to pick up his phone, he's able to see through Aoi. He meets with her again later that evening, and she appears solid once again – but instead, Shinichiro suffers a heart attack as a side effect of "saving" Aoi. This realization forces Shinichiro into an impossible decision: if he wants to save Aoi's life, he'll have to give up his own.
