Can a once-grand hotel be saved from a hostile takeover? The owner of Seoul Hotel dies of a sudden heart attack when his old friend, Kim Bok Man (Han Jin Hee), informs him that his company is buying up shares of the Seoul Hotel stock in preparation for a takeover. The owner’s widow, Yoon Bong Sook (Yoon Yeo Jung), has never been involved in the hotel business, and her son, Choi Young Jae (Park Jung Chul), is a playboy with no interest in it either. Bong Sook asks hotel employee Jin Young (Song Yoon Ah) to go to the United States and bring back Han Tae Joon (Kim Seung Woo), the hotel’s former manager who left three years ago after an unfortunate incident with a guest. Bok Man hires Shin Dong Hyuk, who goes by the name Frank Shin (Bae Yong Joon), a Korean American attorney who specializes in mergers and acquisitions, to help him with the takeover. Frank moves into a chalet at Seoul Hotel in order to carry out his secret mission. But while at the hotel, Frank starts to fall for Jin Young, and his loyalty to his boss is tested as his feelings for her deepen. Meanwhile, Young Jae falls in love with Kim Yoon Hee (Song Hye Kyo), Bok Man’s daughter, while she is more interested in the kind Tae Joon. Can Tae Joon help save the Seoul Hotel from the takeover attempt? “Hotelier” is a 2001 South Korean drama series directed by Jang Yong Woo.
