Some people have the overwhelming feeling that they just don’t fit in their own families. They have a nagging sensation that this is not the life they are meant to live.
That has always been the case for Hwang Geum Ran (Lee Yoo Ri). Growing up in a poor family where money is always in short supply and a source of great stress, Geum Ran is exasperated with her mother, who runs a small restaurant, and fed up with her father, a gambling addict who contributes nothing to the family but headaches and money troubles. She frequently exclaims that she doesn’t belong in this family and longs for a better life.
Geum Ran only has a high school diploma because her family couldn’t afford to send her to college, but she loves books and works as a salesperson in a bookstore. One day during a book event at her bookstore, Geum Ran sees the Han Jung Won (Kim Hyun Joo), a beautiful, polished publishing company executive exuding the confidence and twinkling sparkle of a person who has grown up in a life of privilege. Geum Ran feels pangs of longing and jealousy because she would love to have Jung Won’s life of wealth and success.
Then Geum Ran makes the shocking discovery that Jung Won’s life is supposed to be her own, as the two women were switched at birth at the hospital where they were born on the same day.
Can Geum Ran realize her dream of a better life while Jung Won must now struggle to keep the success she has worked so hard to achieve?
