About

The illegitimate son of a minister becomes a Robin Hood during the Joseon Dynasty.

Hong Gil Dong (Kang Ji Hwan) has been told all his life that he can never accomplish much in his life because of his illegitimate status, but a local monk takes an interest in him after realizing that he is destined for a bigger life and teaches him martial arts. Gil Dong begins to realize the injustices in society that are perpetrated against the poor by the wealthy elite, and he devotes his life to fighting the injustices and giving back to the poor.

Gil Dong meets Heo Yi Nok (Sung Yuri), a spirited young woman who doesn’t know about her true past. When they both befriend Lee Chang Hwi (Jang Geun Suk), the brother of the current king, can Gil Dong and Yi Nok help Chang Hwi overthrow the current corrupt government and rule the land with a more benevolent hand?
