He also starred in the drama “Proud of Love” (2016) and its sequel “Proud of Love Season 2” (2017) and “The Legend of Chusen 2” (2016-2017).

In China in the mid-1200s Yang Guo (Tong Meng Shi) is the orphan son of the late Han-traitor Yang Kang, a sworn pact brother with the price of Jin. Although Yang Guo is street smart, his quest to become a martial arts master appears to be fruitless until he meets a young female expert named Xiao Long Nu (Mao Xiao Hui).

At first he finds her cold and distant, but eventually the two form a strong bond that eventually blossoms into a taboo romance – in this age, martial arts instructors are not permitted to form romantic relationships with their students.

But as their new-found love grows, another emotion is also brewing inside Yang Guo. He has learned that Guo Jing (Shao Bing), the man that sent him away from his home and his father’s closest ally and the plotting Huang Rong (Gong Bei Bi) may have been behind his father’s death. Yang Guo plans to take revenge, but is hesitant to use his newfound fighting skills to immoral ends.

Meanwhile, another threat – the invading Mongol hordes – poses another, more pressing threat to the realm, with the sound of galloping hooves growing louder from the steppes…

This drama is based on a 1957 serialized novel of the same name, part of the “Condor Trilogy,” written by Jin Yong.
