The Forbidden Marriage

The untimely death of distraught young King Yi Heon (Kim Young Dae)’s wife triggers a legal ban on marriage for everyone in Korea… which can only be lifted when he remarries. Seven years pass, and the entire nation is still waiting for the royal marriage that will finally allow them to get on with their lives. Meanwhile, the jailed swindler So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) can sense an opportunity. She tries to convince law enforcement officer Lee Sin Won (Kim Woo Seok) that she can find the King’s late wife’s spirit in the palace. When she finally gains an audience with the King, she “becomes possessed” by the spirit. Can her ruse help lift the ban? And could it inadvertently lead her to love? This 2022 South Korean drama series was based on a webtoon by Chun Ji Hye and was directed by Jung Hoon and Park Sang Woo.
