Within the first episode, I've laughed so many times, my tummy aches. I'll give part of the credit to some of our commentators for those delightful snippets! (*dancing with the stars*- You know who you are ^_^) If you expect this drama to take itself seriously like Ever Night or Nirvana in Fire, then please, leave those expectations at the door. This drama is pure comedy and I'll liken it more to Lan Ling Wang, another drama with Ariel Lin and Feng Shao Feng, and Cuo Dian Yuan Yang, another oldie but goodie starring a young Zanilla Zhao/Zhao Li Ying. It starts out funny and sweet as these comedy/ancient/wushu dramas tend to, but I predict by midway, the plot will take a more serious turn. Also, what a relief to see immediate reaction by our leads to each other! I'm getting tired of those meandering couples who like taking their sweet time towards that sloooowww burn T_T... FYI...my reason for 8 stars is because the storyline so far appears more like a remake of an older drama rather than something fresh. Also, there's a lot of cliches, like slow-mo action sequence and the fall-in-love 360 degree gaze. If you're new to Chinese dramas, please don't let this deter you from watching! It's still lots of fun! Will definitely update my review score further into this drama!

Yang Mi strikes again with another period drama! Beautiful sets, breathtaking fight choreography and committed acting. She has found her match with Ethan Ruan as her co-star. Both their characters are surprisingly similar to each other, they're quite cheeky and playful but if you dig deep, you'll find that both of them are also very serious and loyal. She had amazing chemistry with her co-star, Mark Chao, in 10 miles of Peach Blossoms and now again with Ethan Ruan. Kinda cool how her co-stars are Taiwanese actors making their first(?) foray into Mainland China's entertainment market and their on-screen love slays me every time!

9.5 starts: This drama is surprisingly good! There is some Count of Monte Cristo revenge plot happening and our second male lead isn't as goody-two-shoes as he first appeared to be. At first I was baffled by Shu Yue's motive for approaching Nan Qiao...well when the reason was revealed, I was behind our lead 100%! The only reason this show doesn't hit the 10 star marks for me is the editing/pacing of the cuts. The flashbacks are too repetitive and can be jarring. Other than that William Chan is the king of smoldering gazes and Bai He is so effortlessly beautiful, my eyes hurt sometimes! Still a recommended show as of ep.8!
