I wanted to watch a highly rated Japanese drama and decided on this one. It was great. I laughed and cried. Really moving parts to the story with great acting. I noticed some comments that were critiquing the mom and other characters, but I think that there are cultural nuances that folks might not understand from their own cultural lens. I recognize that I don't always fully understand or connect with the ways that Japanese people express or don't express themselves, but I know that the limitations are due to my own cultural background and biases. In any case, I think it was a great drama that I could totally rewatch again. Hope people can get the deeper messages that the drama tried to convey and not get hung up on the cultural issues. All cultures have strengths as well as weaknesses.
I'm hooked. Even though Na Wang Shik's transformation is so unrealistic. How could his voice change so dramatically in two months? I can kinda go with the other changes, but the voice and personality don't match. The story and some characters are darker than I'm used to, but it'll be interesting to see how they get brought down by the Empress and Na Wang Shik.
Surprisingly funny and moving. Great combination of cast. I've thoroughly enjoyed every episode. Sometimes, I don't know the masters that are brought on, but in the end, there are always moving aspects, funny interactions, that make this show so fun to watch.
