In the days before Civil Rights, a little boy rose from a life of poverty and grew up to become one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Joe Louis (Coley Wallace), who had the nickname of the Brown Bomber, held the World Heavyweight Champion title from 1937 to 1949. Born on May 13, 1914, in a ramshackle home in rural Chambers County, Alabama, til his death from cardiac arrest on April 12, 1981, no other professional boxer has had as much impact on the industry and, in his own way, served as a role model for African American rights in the United States. “The Joe Louis Story” is a 1953 American movie directed by Robert Gordon about the World Heavyweight Champion Joseph Louis Barrow, who was better known as Joe Louis.
