Some life events are just so traumatic that you can never truly recover from it and move on with your life. In their youth, Joe (Bowie Lam), Angus (Moses Chan), Ronnie (Kenny Wong) and Ka Ming are close friends and members of the same band. They take a mountaineering trip together that forever alters the course of all their lives forever. When the four friends become stranded on a mountain during a snowstorm, Ka Ming ends up dead and the three remaining friends are forced to do unspeakable things in order to survive. Almost two decades later, the traumatized friends have long abandoned their friendships and still bear deep scars from the incident. Ka Ming’s girlfriend, Yan (Charmaine Sheh), is still haunted by her lost love 18 years later and can’t seem to find wholeness with her husband or her lover. What does fate have in store for these tortured souls when they reunite after so many years? “When Heaven Burns” is a 2011 Hong Kong drama series. In 2012, the series won the TVB Anniversary Award for Best Drama despite being censored by Mainland China in December 2011, the first time a Hong Kong series was censored in 20 years.
