You can’t keep a genius down. Kim Tae Won (No Min Woo) showed his musical talents at a very early age. Although considered an outcast at school and often mocked by the other students, Tae Won discovered a love of rock music that turned his life around. He stole his older brother’s unused guitar and taught himself how to play the very complicated guitar riff in Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Going to Love You” while in middle school. At the age of 20, Tae Won formed a rock band called The End, which he later renamed Boohwal, which means “resurrection” or “rebirth.” The band became an instant hit with its first single, “Heeya.” However, Boohwal and Tae Won faced many challenges over the years due to infighting and jealousies. Decades later, Tae Won is finally acknowledged for his songwriting talents and guitar playing, proving that you can’t keep a great musical talent down. “Rock Rock Rock” is a 2010 miniseries directed by Lee Won Ik that portrays the life and music of Kim Tae Won, one of the most talented guitarists in Korean music history.
