A brilliant brain surgeon is tormented in his own time period and then thrust into the past. Jin Minakata (Takao Osawa) is a brain surgeon who has been grieving for the past two years because his fiancée has been in a coma after a surgery that he performed to try to save her. But his life is turned upside down one day when he tries to catch a runaway patient and is accidentally transported back to the Edo Period. There, a samurai attacks Jin, but a man named Kyotaro Tachibana (Keisuke Koide) saves Jin’s life. When Kyotaro suffers a head injury in the process, Jin in turn saves his life despite the rudimentary equipment he has to work with. Kyotaro’s sister, Saki Tachibana (Haruka Ayase), is drawn to the mysterious Jin and becomes his assistant in the Edo time period. But can Jin survive in this dangerous era and figure out a way to return to his former life? “Jin” is a 2009 Japanese drama series directed by Hirakawa Yuichiro. It is based on a manga by the same title written by Motoka Murakami. The second season of this series, called “Jin Final,” originally aired in 2011.
