Green Tangerine-Ade
EN 100% Korea

Today’s drink is Green Tangerine-Ade! Green tangerines are unripe tangerines that are not yet orange. They taste like somewhere in between a tangerine and lime, so they are great as a tea or a sweet drink. We need green tangerine syrup for tangerine-ade.

In Korea, we call syrup made with raw fruit and sugar “chung.” You can make “chung” using lemon, grapefruit and other fruits.

1) Thinly slice washed green tangerines.

2) In a large bowl, mix 1 part green tangerines with 1 part sugar and leave until sugar is dissolved. You can speed up this process by occasionally stirring with a spatula.

3) Once sugar is completely dissolved, transfer to a sterilized canning jar. If stored at room temperature, the green tangerines turn orange so refrigerate the mixture. You can use it after three days.

4) You can enjoy the syrup with sparkling water as tangerine-ade or with hot water as tea.
