The Thousand-Year-Old Takizakura
EN 100% Japan

We visit Miharu-machi, Fukushima Prefecture, to introduce the Takizakura, the thousand-year standing sakura tree. Towering at over 13m, and spreading across an area of 25m by 20m, the giant tree has been appointed one of Japan's national natural monuments. It owns a special place in the hearts of many locals, and has been loved by them since ancient times. Overflowing with life, the weeping sakura has attracted many visitors once again this spring.
