Set in the Joseon Dynasty, the story unfolds about a beautiful gumiho and her half-human daughter.
Goo San Daek (Han Eun Jung) is a gumiho (a nine-tailed fox in Korean folklore) who leaves her human lover after his betrayal renders her unable to shape-shift. San Daek takes her young daughter, Yeon Yi (Kim Yoo Jung), and roams the land looking for a safe place to live. When they arrive at a small village, they meet Yoon Doo Soo (Jang Hyun Sung), a kind-hearted former government official who takes them in after learning they have nowhere to go. But Doo Soo has an ulterior motive. His daughter, Cho Ok (Seo Shin Ae), suffers from a mystical disease that can only be cured by eating the liver from a girl who is the same age.
But things get complicated when Doo Soo falls in love with San Daek, and Yeon Yi gains her gumiho powers after she turns 10. Can Yeon Yi protect herself and her mother from human jealousy and betrayal?
