In the turbulent early days of Korean history, seers (otherwise known as psychics or geomancers) held enormous power, especially in their ability to influence and control the ruling class, even the king.
Among the supernatural power holders is the great General Lee Sung Gye (Ji Jin Hee), who is responsible for the overthrow of the Goryeo Dynasty and helping Korea usher in the Joseon Dynasty and serves as its first king. He is aided by Mok Ji Sang (Ji Sung), a gifted seer who was born with the psychic ability to see into people’s pasts and their futures. He eventually becomes known as a “king-maker,” effectively using his tremendous power to cause a major political shift and help the rise of Joseon when he backs General Lee as a leader.
Hae In (Kim So Yeon) is a healer whose fate is tied with General Lee, but she falls in love with the seer. Lee Jung Geun (Song Chang Eui) is a rival seer who has a different idea of the direction that the country needs two take.
“The Great Seer” is a 2012 South Korean drama series directed by Lee Yong Suk.
