Takumi Saito is one of the most popular Japanese actors working today, as well as a singer and model. Born on August 22, 1981, he began his career during his teen years as a model, which gave him the opportunity to see the world at a young age. In 2001, at the age of 19, he made his acting debut in the 2001 film “Toki no Kaori: Remember Me.” He has had a prolific career in films and television dramas since, becoming one of the most in-demand actors in the industry. A few of his recent credits include the television dramas “Hirugao: Love Affairs in the Afternoon” (2014), “Doctors’ Affairs” (2015) and the film “Hirugao: The Movie” (2017).

Ren Takahashi (Masaki Suda) and Aoi Sonoda (Nana Komatsu) were born in the same year: 1989. They meet when they are both aged 13 and fall for each other. Ren confesses his feeling for Aoi as they walk home together and they agree to meet the next day. But the meeting never takes place – Aoi’s family relocates suddenly to Sapporo. He takes a train to find her and manages to track her down, only to discover that Aoi has been viciously assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend. They escape to an empty house, where they share a night of passion – only to be separated by the police the next morning.

Years later, they are reunited as adults in Tokyo, although much has changed in the years since they last saw each other. So-called friends can have a tremendous impact on your life. Sawa Sasamoto (Aya Ueto) is a happily married woman who works part-time as a supermarket cashier to keep herself busy. Rikako Takigawa (Michiko Kichise) recently moved into the neighborhood with her husband, Toru Takigawa (Hoka Kinoshita), the editor of a large publishing company, and their two daughters.
