Karen Otomo is a Japanese actress. She was born in Gunma Prefecture, Japan on October 9, 1999 and made her debut as an actress in 2012. Since then, she has appeared in various films and television dramas, including the high school, fantasy, romance drama, “When One Day I Will Sleep” (2019).

Yamada Koichi (Komiya Rio) is an ever-cheerful, ever-popular high schooler with plenty of friends in his class. Oumi Mitsuru (Inoue Sora) is his polar opposite: a gifted young student who has plenty of intelligence, but relatively few social skills. Despite their vastly different personalities, they begin to feel a strong pull of mutual attraction. But one rainy morning, just as their passions are beginning to rise, a truck slams into Yamada Koichi in front of Oumi Mitsuru.

Moments later, it appears to Oumi Mitsuru that the other boy simply got up and continued about his business as though nothing has happened. But that is not what the rest of the world appears to understand has happened. As the boy’s classmates slowly begin to forget about Yamada Koichi, Oumi Mitsuru’s passion for him begins to burn stronger than ever. But is this really the “same” Yamada Koichi? Mei (Iitoyo Marie) is a 24-year-old woman who left her tranquil hometown behind for the allure of the big city.

She works at a major publishing company, but one day has an incident at work and finds herself out of a job.

Mei hears of strange goings-on back home – where the cherry blossom trees have suddenly begun to blossom out of season. She decides to go back to investigate.

Visiting her hometown always fills her with sadness, as when she was just 17, her high school friend Kota (Sano Hayato) died in a sudden accident. The friends both had strong feelings for one another, but never had the courage to confess how they felt.

However, when Mei returns, she is surprised to discover that Kota has returned – although she soon learns that he may only be able to stay for as long as the cherry trees remain in bloom.

What magic has brought the two together again? And will the reunited friends finally confess their true feelings to one another?

A second year high school student, Morino Hotaru (Karen Otomo) has spent the last few years crushing on her classmate, Otaka Ren (Kai Shouma). Unable to find the courage to confess her feelings, Hotaru has become something of an expert in unrequited love.

One day, while on a school trip with Ren and her best friend, Yamamoto Shiori (Kita Noa), their bus gets into an accident. Blacking out for a bit, Hotaru wakes up to find a young man, dressed fully in black, standing over her. Shocked by his sudden appearance, Hotaru shoves him away but he refuses to leave. Introducing himself as Kuro (Yuta Koseki), he announces that he’s a grim reaper and that Hotaru is dead.&nbsp;

As if the news of her death wasn’t shocking enough, Kuro goes on to explain that she has 49 days in which to resolve the three lingering attachments she has to her past life. If she fails to resolve these lingering regrets within the given time, she’ll become a ghost, bound to this world, unable to rest in peace for all eternity. There’s just one problem, Hotaru has been asleep for a month and now has only nineteen days in which to resolve her regrets.

Difficult as it seems, Hotaru sets out to free herself from the last, lingering attachments to her mortal life. With time running out, she must hurry, but saying goodbye is hard and saying “I love you” feels nearly impossible!

Based on the novel of the same name by Inu Jun, “When One Day I Will Sleep” is a 2019 high school fantasy romance drama directed by Ryo Miyawaki, Hidemitsu Miyamoto, and Masayuki Kokuryo.
