Kinoshita Houka is a Japanese actor who was born on January 24, 1964, in Osaka, Japan. He graduated from Osaka Prefectural Nozaki High School and went on to study at the Osaka University of Arts. He began acting in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and appeared in the international hit movie “Sonatine” in 1993. His more recent works include the 2018 drama “A Little Room for Hope” and the movie “Angry Rice Wives” (2021).

Kinoshita Houka

A 14-year-old schoolgirl (Yamada Anna) is about to take her own life. Existence has become an unbearable torment: She is abused at home and mercilessly bullied at school. Death, she feels, will be her only release. But at the last moment, a silver-haired young man wearing a white face mask (Uesugi Shuhei) intervenes to save her. He takes her to a one-room apartment. The police treat her disappearance as a kidnapping case and launch an investigation.

In the apartment, the man begins to call her Sachi (meaning “happiness”), a name she begins to like. She, in turn, calls him “Mister” and begins to develop affection for him. The duo agrees to a pact: If they can evade capture by the police and her family, they will marry and live together for the rest of their lives. But if they are caught, they will die together. But when they finally venture out of the safety of the apartment, things threaten to come to a head when Sachi encounters one of her bullies on the street...

This drama was based on a hit web-based cartoon series named “Sachiiro no One Room” by Hakuri.

“A Little Room For Hope” is a 2018 Japanese drama series that was directed by Ryuichi Honda.
