Yeon Jun Suk is a South Korean actor. Born on December 15, 1995, he began his career as a child actor at the age of 9. After a bit part in a 2004 television drama, he made his acting debut in the 2005 film “Duelist.” He also has starred in “Iljimae” (2008), “Shining Inheritance” (2009), “Shark” (2013), “Reply 1994” (2013) and “Choco Bank” (2016). For his role in “Shark,” Yeon Jun Suk won Male Newcomer of the Year at the Herald DongA TV Lifestyle Awards and Best Young Actor at the KBS Drama Awards in 2013.

Lee Dong Il (Jang Gwang) is a septuagenarian who lives on his own and is thoroughly enjoying his old age. With plenty of free time on his hands, he has hobbies aplenty and a busy social life.

But one day, his son comes by to request that Lee Dong Il temporarily look after his teenage grandson Lee Jae Hoon (Yeon Jun Suk), while the former goes overseas to remarry.

The elderly man very begrudgingly agrees, and Lee Jae Hoon, who would prefer to spend his days lazing around, is no fan of the idea either. The two soon begin to get on each other’s nerves and butt heads on more than one occasion.

But when a mysterious crime wave begins to shale up the area – targetting pensioners – the duo decides to pool their wits and get to the bottom of the matter.

In the meantime, they must also work to shore up their relationship. But as they start to work together, they start to realize that they have a lot more in common than they once thought.

Nostalgia again takes center stage in the mid-1990s, when K-pop group Seo Taiji and Boys exploded in popularity and everyone was obsessed with the Korean Basketball League. 

Sung Na Jung (Go Ara) is a polished woman living in modern-day Seoul with her husband and son. But she remembers back to 1994, the year that her parents (Sung Dong Il and Lee Il Hwa) moved from the Gyeongsang Province to the big city of Seoul to operate the Shin Chon Boarding House. That year, when she was 20 years old and crazy about the college basketball star Lee Sang Min, was a turning point in her life. 

Among the other fresh transplants from the countryside living in her parents’ boarding house that year would be her future husband. There’s Trash (Jung Woo), a third-year medical student who has grown up like her older brother; Sam Cheon Po (Kim Sung Kyun), a computer engineering major who feels alienated in Seoul; Haitai (Son Ho Joon), another computer engineering major who plays video games all the time; Bing Grae (Baro), a first-year medical student; and his cousin, Chil Bong (Yoo Yeon Seok), a pitcher on the Yonsei University Baseball Team. Also boarding at the house is the dark female student with the foul mouth, Jo Yoon Jin (Min Dohee).

“Reply 1994” is a follow-up series to the hit 2012 coming-of-age drama “Reply 1997.” It is written by Lee Woo Jung and directed by Shin Won Ho, the same team as the previous series.
