The Man

King Gwang Hae (Lee Byung Hun), the tyrannical 15th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, orders his chief secretary Heo Gyun (Ryu Seung Ryong) to find him a body double to help evade assassination attempts. Heo Gyun finds Ha Seon (also played by Lee Byung Hun), a talented beggar who looks remarkably similar to the king, and not a moment too soon, as King Gwang Hae is poisoned shortly after. Heo Gyun grooms Ha Seon to take over while the real king recovers, and Ha Seon is put to the test during his first official appearance in the royal court. Ha Seon gives serious consideration to his subjects' concerns, taking a far more humanitarian approach than the real king. However, some who oppose King Gwang Hae find "the king's" sudden change in behavior suspicious, while the Queen Consort (Han Hyo Joo) struggles with her preference for Ha Seon over her actual husband.
