Despite being poor but smart, Seo Yeong's family is happy until her father, Sam Jae, is laid off from work. Everything seems to fall apart. After a failed business attempt, Sam Jae gets involved in gambling, and his relationship with Seo Yeong grows distant. Though never ranking lower than first place, Seo Yeong has no tuition money and has to give up her dream of being a doctor and prepares for the bar exam.
