About

George Hu is an American actor of Taiwanese descent who is one of the most popular actors working in Taiwan today. Born and raised in New York City, New York, George Hu moved to Taiwan in 2005 to pursue an acting career. After he graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphic Design from St. John’s University in Queens, New York, George Hu was visiting family in Taiwan when he was scouted and asked to audition for a talent agency. He spent his entire first year in Taiwan learning Mandarin and memorizing his lines for his first role in the idol drama “Emerald on the Roof.” Because he was new to the language, George Hu’s lines were dubbed by a voiceover actor for his first few roles, and it wasn’t until his role in 2007’s “Romantic Princess” that George Hu’s actual voice can be heard. Following his first leading role in “K.O.3an Guo” in 2009, George Hu has starred in many other popular dramas, including “Love, Now” (2012), “Love Around” (2013), “Love Cheque Charge” (2014) and “Attack It, Lightning!” (2017). He is rumored to be dating his “Love, Now” co-star Annie Chen, but they have not confirmed their relationship. George Hu also is an accomplished martial artist, starting his training at age 7, and has studied under Master Marlon Ma at New York Wutang Chinese Martial Arts Institute in the long fist, praying mantis and baji fighting styles. He has won numerous regional and national martial arts competitions. From 2009 to 2013, George Hu was part of a five-member boy band known as Wu Hu Jiang.
